2017 LMRF BANGLADESH

Background

Lion Mukhlesur Rahman Foundation was established in 2001 with the purpose of providing free cleft lip/palate surgery and rehabilitation. It was the first such organization in the Chittagong to provide such services. From its earliest days, LMRF has been primarily focused on providing out-of-the box healthcare services to the children born with Birth Defects. Moreover, the services continue to be free of cost. Twelve years since it has been established, LMRF today has transformed into an organization that primarily deals with Childhood Disability.

I am serving as Area-Coordinator (Noakhali) in Lion Mukhlesur Rahman Foundation. My experience in this organization has been and still is an overwhelming journey. There are plenty opportunities to learn which help the individual to develop. More than anything, the work I do here really touches the lives of people. I am proud of working in this organization.

Zero Club Foot project appeared on my horizon as a gift from God when I needed specialist treatment for a baby I saw in my village in Chittagong.

From the year 2014, LMRF started carving the building blocks of Shaping Up Tomorrow. This includes strengthening existing projects, building teams to carry the vision, building infrastructure to support the intended growth and most importantly establish a secure funding strategy to become a high quality child development & rehabilitation organization by 2016 and carry towards the Shaping Up Tomorrow vision.

Our Vision

LMRF wants to be recognized as the Most Productive, Cost-Effective and leading children's charity of Bangladesh with a manifesto of ensuring that every child gets the opportunity to grow up in a healthy living environment without any inborn or acquired barriers, thus allowing them to grow up to the best of their potential and live a full, productive life.

Purpose & Values

This vision is driven by the idea that all under-privileged children born with physical, developmental and psycho-social barriers, bear equal potential to be a bright future for the country, if they are given a chance.
Our strengths lie in the disciplined delivery of quality healthcare and community effort to eliminate childhood problems and disabilities of our country. LMRF has started a journey of hope and continuously thriving to bring miracle in the lives of these needy children and shape up the future of Bangladesh.

"WE MAY NOT BE ABLE TO PREPARE THE FUTURE FOR OUR CHILDREN, BUT WE CAN AT LEAST PREPARE OUR CHILDREN FOR THE FUTURE" ― FRANKLIN D. ROOSEVELT

Critical Success Factors

Community & Parents

• Eliminating superstition from the community
• Making the right healthy choices for parents and children
• Staying up-to-date of different congenital anomalies
• Taking safety measures to avoid childhood injuries
• Taking steps to procure and produce healthy food supply
• Creating children friendly environments

Health Service

• Ensuring right information is available at the right time
• Providing proper and updated treatment practices to address childhood health problems
• Involving multiple stakeholders (GO & NGOs) in health service delivery
• Active participation in research related to child health
• Ensuring that staff is trained with updated protocol and procedures (LMRF recognized for their high capacity staff)

"IN A WOMAN'S WOMB ANOTHER CHANCE TO MAKE THE WORLD A BETTER PLACE." ― ELLEN HOPKINS

Our Objectives

Keep overhead and admin costs low

Our staff will be no more than fifty people and most of them are placed in different zones. By keeping our overhead low and productivity high, less money is spent on non-program expenses and more money is spent mostly on casting and surgeries that help our beneficiaries.

Decentralization by Hub & Spoke System of Operations

By this operations method, we'd strengthen our zonal staff, make them more responsible and provide more service.

Run LMRF like a business

Inspired by WonderWork, we treat our donors like shareholders. We hold ourselves and partners accountable and track how every money is spent – and how every donation helps change a child's life.

Collaborate with Local GOs & NGOs

Instead of working directly in every corners of the country, we empower local Govt. health authority and NGOs in relevant fields of disability screening and rehabilitation service, so they can help the children in their own communities.

Data-driven operations and service delivery

Every step in the service delivery will be measured, tracked and evaluated against defined targets. Overall patient management will be supported by strong IT tools.

Facial Cleft is a major problem in developing countries like Bangladesh where every year 4000 babies are born with this deformity and most of them remain neglected. CureCleft is working relentlessly to reverse their doomed life with a simple corrective surgery.

LMRF Children’s Hospital (LMRFCH) is a small scale Children's Hospital having 20 beds, situated at Lion Foundation Complex in Chittagong. It is a social business venture which provides better health service to the children at an affordable cost.

HELP USRAISE FUNDS

We are working hard to provide high quality healthcare to these unprivileged children of Bangladesh. But our funding is limited as we receive non-government support and rely heavily on generous individuals and corporations to help us in providing free-of-cost quality care to these ill-fated children of Bangladesh. You can help too simply by dedicating a little of your precious time and effort to help raise funds.

Please choose the project you'd like to help

To cure these poor ill-fated children and keep their dreams alive, we aim to find at least 1 donor for every child. But you can help us cure more than 1 child. If you are having difficulty making your online donation, please call us at +880 1766 667 645.
