LMRF Nurses Participated Nursing Care save Lives Training
Ms. Tania Akter and Ms. Binonda Chakma, Staff Nurses of LMRF Children’s Hospital participated at a comprehensive nursing care workshop titled as “Nursing Care Saves Lives” at TMSS Medical College Hospital, Bogra organized by Smile Train Bangladesh. This training program was divided into two segments, whereas first one held on 25-27 February 2016 and second one on 2-4 March 2016 respectively. Total 40 participants from 17 partner hospitals were participated at the training.
Safety of the patients is and always will be the first priority. To ensure healthy treatment, Smile Train organized Nursing Training for its all of Bangladeshi Partner Organization where Expert Trainers from all over the country conducted the training season. The Trainers were Prof. Dr. SazzadKhondokar, Prof. Dr. Shahidul Bari, Dr. Bijoy Krishna Das, Dr. Ayub Ali, Dr. Mahbub Rahman and Ms. Surovi Gosh. Subject outline of this training was- role of a nurse in cleft care, psychological nursing care, pain assessment & management, post operative complications & scenarios, nursing assessment in children, nursing intervention plan, documentation and nursing care pathway etc.
The main purposes of this training were: 1. to reduce the number of Sentinel Events due to surgery related complications 2. to improve post-operative nursing, monitoring and observation of cleft patients. The training also laid importance to all aspects of pre & post operative patient care so that there is no compromise to the quality of care given to the children. Tania Akter, a trainer from LMRF said that “From the core of my heart, I would like to thank the Organizers of the event where I have learned pain assessment of cure cleft patients & hope that now I could manage my patients properly.” It’s expected that they will disseminate what they have learned to their peers upon return to their hospital and this high-end professional training will guide them to safe guard all our cleft patients in the future.
