LMRF participated at a seminar on “World Health Day”
Public Health Foundation of Bangladesh (PHFB) celebrated ‘World Health Day’, 2016 by organizing a seminar on 7th April 2016 at National Press Club, Dhaka. Team LMRF participated in this event. This year the theme of this day was"Prevent Treat Beat Diabetes" and the goal was to scale up prevention, strengthen care, and enhance surveillance of Diabetes.
The event was Chaired by Prof. MuzharulHaque, Chairman, PHFBand Chief Guest was Major General (Rtd.) A R Khan, Vice President, BADAS. Among other notable participants were Prof. Md. Farid Uddin, Prof. & Founder Chairman, Dept. of Endocrinology, BSMMU, Prof. Sharmeen Yasmin, Head of Community Medicine Dept. of BMCH, Prof. Raqibul Anwar, CEO & President, Raheted, Dr. Md. Jahidur Rashid Sumon, MBBS, CMU, DMU. Dr. Shamim Khan (Executive Director)Kaoser Bin Siddique (Manager RED) and Mithila Zahid (Project Officer) attended on behalf of LMRF along with representative from different organizations, Journalists of print & electronic media.
In this auspicious occasion Dr. Shamim Khan explained the details of GramHealth LMRF Portable Clinic Project (GLPCP) to the audience in order to highlight the benefit & necessity of GLPCP for the remote areas of Bangladesh. He mentioned that, people those are sick are not the target segment for GLPCP rather we would like to focus on that segment of a society who are standing in the border line or bearing the risks of developing Diabetes and Hypertension.
Finally it was said that to beat diabetes and make the World Health Day's slogan become a reality, our country still have a long way to go and all relevant Govt. departments, NGOs, Health professionals and institutions have to works under on umbrella to fight Diabetes and other NCDs.
