Mouri, The precious smile
It is a true story which is one of the vivid examples of how giving birth of a baby with congenital cleft lip/palate adversely affects a happy family and turns to a complete disaster. Shagor (Symbolic) and Nodi (Symbolic) were from two different nearby villages of Noakhali. They got married and were a very nice happy couple. Shagor works for a private firm in Dhaka and therefore, he has to live in Dhaka while Nodi lives in Noakhali. At age of one and half year of their marriage, Nodigave birth Mouri (Symbolic) as a gift of their immense love. Before Mouri had been born, their relation was full of affection, love and caring. In essence their lifestyle was worth to envying. But after Mouri's birth, their all happiness completely evaporated and that was only because, she was born with cleft lip.
The matter of tragedy was that, Shagor was not happy with the result as, only because, Mouri was born with congenital Cleft lip. Surprisingly, later on he cut off all connections with Nodi and Muri blaming that she is the responsible for Mouris' deformity. Even he has stopped visiting them in Noakhali and never returned from Dhaka till that.
"When my daughter was born with cleft, seeing her face with cleft all family members' face turned pale. Some of them were making bad comments relating to prevailing superstitions in the society. Relatives were frequently asking about her facial condition. Meanwhile her father stopped contacting, all these used to make me nervous and helpless and therefore I used to wipe silently for a long time. I can't even imagine what bad days were that?"…..As Nodi says.
"Sometimes, I thought it was my fault. Maybe, Allah is giving me punishment for some unknown sin or mistakes. Now I am so happy that I cannot express it in language, May Allah blesses all of you."……She also added.
One day Mouri's Uncle Mr. Khaled came to know about cleft treatment and LMRF's free treatment provisions from an old patient's parents and contacted with LMRF team over phone. He was advised to bring his niece on Nokhali camp day. On the camp day Mouri got the surgical operation after following related some assessments under the supervision of Dr. Ayub Ali, Dr. Ashiqur Rahman Siddiqui and Dr. S.N. Kibria. Now she is completely okay.
"Our entire family members was worried about Mouri's condition, her difficulties make us insane, It was really so pathetic. We used to fear about her future. Thank you LMRF and its team giving me relive from that kind of situations and we always ready to help LMRF so far we can with our capacity".
LMRF family is always happy and feel proud of seeing shiny smile of cleft corrected patients and thereby their families.
