A Mother's Prayers … Answered.
It all started with a normal pregnancy - a planned pregnancy. Mrs. Sabekun Nahar has 3 sons. This was the fourth issue to hope of a daughter. She was punctual with vitamin intake, regular diet, received doctor's advice, she received proper prenatal care. She doesn't remember doing anything that could have led to her child being born with a cleft.
Mrs. Sabekun Nahar says, I had an ultrasound where the doctor gave me the bad news. My daughter, Tanzia Hoque Nouri, would be born with a cleft lip and palate. My husband and I left the clinic feeling like it was a bad dream. I couldn't imagine what her face would look like. I prayed and prayed that somehow the ultrasounds were wrong but it wasn't. Nouri was born with a cleft lip, cleft palate and cleft alveolus. It was heartbreaking realization that left us so many questions. How would we take care of her? Would she be able to eat, to speak? Would people accept her? I was completely devastated.
Everyone advised us to have the patience and prayed to Almighty for finding a path. At first, I had a hard time feeding her, her weight was low but we were adapting to the situation. Nouri is our only daughter as we were wish to earlier. All of our family members love her. But everybody was worried about her.
One day, we learned about LMRF by newspaper and started looking forward to come at LMRF. It was our only option since we couldn't afford to pay for her surgery.
At last, we came at LMRF. After all medical evaluation, Nouri was escorted into the operation room and when brought her back from surgery, we couldn't believe our eyes. We didn't recognize her. We began crying from the overwhelming happiness we left. LMRF did everything for her at a free of cost. We didn't have to spend a penny even.
After some days, we saw her beautiful new smile shine on her little face. We will always be grateful to each person that makes LMRF's work possible. We will never be able to repay what LMRF did for Nouri- for all the love she received and shaped up her future.
